SHTF is internet slang for the day the assumption chain snaps: fuel, power, payments, or public order stop being ambient. You do not need a movie plot—Texas Freeze, regional blackouts, and multi-week storm recoveries already qualify as “mild SHTF” for the people living them.
Plan for cascading failures: weather knocks power → water pressure drops → pharmacies close → information gets weird. Watchtower War Tracker and Freedom Check sit beside environmental risk gauges because geopolitics and civil-liberty stress can move in the same week as a heat dome.
Scenario stacks worth rehearsing
Grid-down 3–14 days. Evacuation with one vehicle and pets. Shelter-in-place with smoke or civil disturbance outside. Medical need without a functional ER wait time. Information blackout—hence offline guides.
